The 4-7-8 Breathing Technique with Mantra
This video guides you in the 4-7-8 Breath that Dr. Andrew Weil has been known to teach..The absolute time you spend on each phase is not important; the ratio of 4:7:8 is important. The elongated exhalation and rhythm of breathing naturally calms the nervous system and can decrease anxiety and improve sleep. If you have trouble holding your breath, speed the exercise up but keep to the ratio of 4:7:8 for the three phases or you can try 3:5:6, with the exhalation always double the inhalation. With practice, this rhythm can feel more natural. Please visit me at HolisticHealingwithDeborah.com for more meditations and information.
